Our “Hidden Gem”

GEM Feature

We mentioned a couple of weeks ago that we were excited to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of our dear friends at Brides of Oklahoma magazine. They’ve put together an absolutely stunning 10th Anniversary issue.

Inside that issue, BC Clark is mentioned a few times, but there was one write-up that really got us excited. Consider it our “Hidden Gem.” The ladies at Brides of Oklahoma make a beautiful tribute to one of our favorite designers, Megan Thorne. And while we’ll never fall victim to claiming a “favorite” when it comes to the amazing designers that we carry, Megan holds a special place in our heart for a number of reasons.

Although she may “technically” be a Texas transplant, her Cowboy Orange blood allows us to claim her as a local.

“I’m from Texas, but I actually studied apparel design at Oklahoma State University! It was there that I took my first metal-smithing class as an elective—just for fun. Working with BC Clark feels like a full-circle moment for me, a true homecoming!”

One other hallmark of Megan’s approach to design that we really connect with is her desire to help customers create “modern heirlooms.” She may be a young designer, but she truly understands that that a well-crafted piece of jewelry can, and should, stand the test of time.

“…the ring you are creating now should be passed on to your loved ones later. I wear my own great-grandmother’s engagement ring and wedding band, and I can think of no higher honor than sharing in another family’s special moments. Thus, I am always mindful of distinctive, yet timeless design and quality craftsmanship, so that a ring can be treasured for generations to come.”

Megan’s commitment to design and craftsmanship is the driving force behind how she selects her materials. Much like BC Clark, Megan goes out of her way to use only ethically sourced stones and recycled metals. These values make it an honor to carry her breathtaking jewelry in our stores.

She touches every piece that comes off her line, and personally places her stamp of approval on all of her jewelry. It’s an attention to detail that places her in a class above the rest.

a_brides-of-ok-cover

Congratulations to our dear friends at Brides of Oklahoma on celebrating their 10th Anniversary!

It’s hard to believe that it has been a decade since we all sat around a table and dreamed about the amazing possibilities that were in store for this wonderful publication. We were honored then to be a part of the initial conversation, and we continue to consider our relationship with this beautiful publication one of our most cherished partnerships.

The Brides of Oklahoma 10th Anniversary issue is truly a wonderful homage to the wedding community, here in OKC.

To Kami and Ashley, thank you for your devotion to such a grand endeavor. Your work has not gone unnoticed. Brides of Oklahoma magazine is truly a gem.

The fact that you are celebrating 10 years of circulation is a testament to your hard work, your eye for style, and your unwavering commitment to helping couples celebrate one of the most meaningful days of their lives together.

From us to you, “Here’s to 10 more years!”

You can pick up a free copy of the 10th Anniversary issue at any of our three locations, or you may purchase this season’s issue, as well as back issues on the Brides of Oklahoma website, here.

Penn Square Open House

Holiday Open House

On December 1st, our Holiday Open House benefited the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The donations collected at the door totaled $3,395. We had a great day of festive fun at all three locations.

At Northpark,  Christopher Radko Ambassador, Jeff Clark personalized Christmas ornaments and shared his expertise. And at Penn Square we got the privilege of spending time with Jon Morris, owner and designer for Olivia Riegel. Jon introduced his new line and signed in-store purchases.

Watch Batteries

During the month of August, we donated all of our watch battery revenue to the Jewelers For Children Fund. With your help, we raised nearly $9,500. And speaking of watch batteries, 2016 brought about a new partnership with Keep it Local OK. We offered a discount on battery replacements at all three stores, when customers presented their Keep it Local card.

Church Coupons

And as always, don’t forget to ask for a “Church Coupon” any time you make a purchase. We will donate 3% of the sale to the church of your choice. Twice a year, we send out checks to over a hundred local churches. It’s a simple way that we like to say thank you to our local community of faith.

2016 has been quite a year, and thanks to our amazing customers, BC Clark was able to give back to the community that has embraced us for the last 125 years!

Two Christmas Traditions, Since 1892

COM-OUDancePartners-Photo1

Oklahoma’s oldest jeweler, since 1892…

You know the line, and you know the Jingle. But have you ever really thought about everything that has happened between then and now? It’s really quite remarkable when one takes the time to consider it.

Our company has been through two World Wars, twenty-two Presidents, the rise of the automobile, the invention of the television, and much, much more. From our store windows we’ve seen our state grow through an oil boom, survive an oil bust, and withstand an attack on the heart of our downtown core. We’ve been in this business for 124 Years. That means 124 Christmases!

And speaking of Christmas, we stumbled on to a fun Holiday fact this week. Back on December 18th, 1892, the very same year that Benton Clyde Clark opened his doors for the first time, Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky was preparing for the debut of his brand new Christmas ballet. The premier was to happen in the famous Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.

60 Years of Jingle Stories

bcc_jingle_60th-anniv_post_1024-1

Every year on Thanksgiving Day, the BC Clark Anniversary Sale Jingle bursts into the homes and hearts of anxious Oklahomans, kicking off the biggest jewelry and fine giftware sale of the year. But over time, The Jingle has come to represent something else, too.

For many Oklahomans, near and far, it signals the start of the Christmas season with a familiar and joyful tune known around the world.

In the 60 years since The Jingle first chimed over Oklahoma’s airwaves, many memories have been made, and stories have been told. Not a year has gone by that we haven’t received numerous letters and emails from people telling us how The Jingle has touched their lives. So we’ve chosen a few of our favorites to share here on the blog.

If you get inspired, we’d love to hear your story!  Simply click here to submit yours or read all the stories submitted by others.

Giving to a Community of Faith

Church_pews_Old_Brick_Church_Mooresville_AL_image_by_Marjorie_Kaufman_01

The BC Clark family has long held faith and family as a top priority when it comes to how we run our business.

These values were established by our founder BC Clark, Sr. and have continued through four generations. It is why we choose to be closed on Sundays, and why we continue the tradition of our church coupon program, to help give back to the community that has supported us for nearly 125 years.

When you make a purchase at any of our three BC Clark locations, ask your salesperson to provide you with a “Church Coupon,” and 3% of your purchase price will go to the local church of your choice.

Twice a year, we proudly send out checks to over a hundred local churches. The checks are designated to support the women’s ministry of the church, as B.C. Clark, Sr. intended it many, many decades ago when he developed the program.

This small gesture is just another way that BC Clark Jewelers hopes to thank you, Oklahoma, for allowing us to be your family jeweler.
