We came across a really cool story recently out of the New York Times creative blog, ARTSBEAT. According to the NY Times, when Shirley Temple was around 12 she received a 9.54-carat Fancy Deep Blue diamond ring from her father that she kept until she died in 2014.
Now that ring — in its original Art Deco-inspired setting — is coming up for auction at Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels sale in New York on April 19. The ring, for which
Temple’s father paid $7,210 in 1940 — roughly $122,000 today, with inflation rates, has an estimate of $25 million to $35 million.
And while we won’t be able to sell you THIS amazing diamond, we can definitely help you find the right diamond for you. Come in to any of our three OKC locations and let one of our diamond experts set you up in style!
